1) Parties & scope
These T&Cs govern online tutoring services for GCSE Maths & Science delivered by GradeLift to a Parent/Carer (“you”) for a Student (under 18). By booking or paying for any session/package, you accept these T&Cs.
2) Definitions
Lesson: a live online session (usually 60 minutes) delivered via Microsoft Teams.
Package/Block: pre-paid bundle of lessons (e.g., 6/10 lessons) on agreed terms.
Subscription: recurring monthly plan for a set number of lessons.
Group lesson: small class (e.g., 1×3 / 1×4 students) on fixed dates.
Business day: Mon–Fri, excluding bank holidays.
3) Our service
Online only; UK time zone unless stated.
Tutors are vetted (DBS, references) and operate as self-employed contractors engaged by GradeLift. We manage matching, QA, and safeguarding.
We align to relevant exam boards (AQA/OCR/Edexcel) but do not guarantee specific grades; progress depends on attendance and effort.
4) Payment & billing
- You pay in advance via Stripe card and/or GoCardless Direct Debit.
- Bookings are confirmed only once payment is received.
- Current prices are shown at checkout/payment links and may change for future purchases; you’ll always see the price before paying.
- For subscriptions, we’ll give at least 30 days’ notice before any price change takes effect on future billing cycles.
5) Scheduling & communications
- Booking: All lessons are booked via Microsoft Bookings. Your confirmation email includes the Teams meeting link, calendar attachment, and a manage/reschedule/cancel link.
- Reminders: Email/SMS reminders from Bookings are a courtesy; attendance remains your responsibility.
- Parent-in-Thread: All out-of-lesson communications must include the parent/carer (e.g., email CC or shared Teams/Bookings thread). No private tutor↔student DMs.
6) Lesson conduct & tech (Microsoft Teams)
- Join on time via the Teams link using the app or a supported browser, with stable internet, working mic/camera, and a quiet space.
- Camera on is encouraged for safeguarding/engagement; exceptions can be agreed and noted.
- The tutor admits only named attendees from the invite; display names should be recognisable.
7) Cancellations, reschedules & lateness (you)
- Free reschedule/cancel with ≥24 hours’ notice via the manage booking link in your Bookings email.
- Late cancel/no-show (<24h or absent 15+ mins): charged in full and counts as used.
- One goodwill waiver per student per term at GradeLift’s discretion.
- Group lessons: missed sessions are forfeited (we’ll share a brief summary/resources where possible).
8) Cancellations & changes (us)
- If a tutor is unavailable, we’ll reschedule or provide a suitable substitute.
- If we cancel and can’t offer a reasonable alternative, we’ll credit or refund the affected lesson(s) in full.
9) Packages, expiry & transfers
- Packages are tied to the named student and expire after [12] months from purchase.
- You may transfer an unused package to a sibling with our consent.
- Used lessons within a package are tracked; see our Refunds & Cancellations Policy for how unused lessons are handled.
- Packages are exclusive, and can not be divided amongst different subjects.
10) Subscriptions (if used)
- Billed in advance each month; auto-renew until you cancel.
- Cancel any time with [7–14] days’ notice before the next billing date via email to accounts@gradelift.co.uk.
- Unused lessons do not roll over unless we agree in writing.
- If you cancel mid-cycle, we’ll provide remaining booked lessons in that cycle or credit at our discretion.
11) Refunds
Please see our Refunds & Cancellations Policy.
12) Late/failed payments & chargebacks
- We may pause lessons until balances are cleared.
- Chargebacks made without first contacting us may incur a £[15–25] admin fee if the charge is found valid.
13) Homework, materials & IP
Materials we share are for personal use only and may not be copied, shared, or resold.
We may use AI-assisted tools to generate practice questions/feedback; tutors remain responsible for accuracy.
14) Safeguarding & recordings (Microsoft Teams)
We follow our Safeguarding & Online Safety Policy.
Recording: OFF by default; parental consent required for routine recording. We may record without prior consent only for safeguarding/incident reasons and will inform you promptly.
Recordings (if enabled) are stored securely within our Microsoft 365 environment (e.g., OneDrive/SharePoint) with restricted access (DSL/ops/QA) and deleted after [90–180] days unless required for an investigation.
15) Data protection
We are ICO-registered and process data under the UK GDPR. See our Privacy Policy for lawful bases, retention, and your rights.
16) Tutor status, matching & substitutions
Tutors are independent contractors engaged by us. We may change or substitute tutors (e.g., illness, timetable changes). We’ll keep you informed.
17) Outcomes, complaints & resolution
We do not guarantee specific exam results.
Concerns? Email hello@gradelift.co.uk (service) or [DSL email] (safeguarding). We aim to acknowledge within 2 business days and resolve within 10. If unresolved, we’ll signpost to appropriate ADR bodies.
18) Liability
We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Otherwise, our total liability arising out of these T&Cs is limited to the total fees paid by you in the preceding 12 months.
19) Force majeure
We’re not liable for delays/failures due to events beyond our control (e.g., widespread outages, illness, extreme weather). We’ll reschedule where reasonably possible.
20) Changes to these T&Cs
We may update these T&Cs; changes apply to future bookings. We’ll notify you of material changes by email/website.
21) Governing law
These T&Cs are governed by the laws of England & Wales. Courts of England & Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
