Parties, scope & definitions

These T&Cs govern online GCSE Maths & Science tutoring delivered by GradeLift Ltd (company no. 16678268, 2a Oaklands Avenue, Thornton Heath, CR7 7PH) to a Parent/Carer (“you”) for a Student under 18. By booking or paying, you accept these T&Cs.

Lesson:
live online session (~60 mins) via Microsoft Teams.

Package/Block:
pre-paid bundle (4 or 10 lessons).

Business day:
Mon–Fri, excluding UK bank holidays.

Our service

  • Online only; UK time zone.
  • Tutors are vetted (Enhanced DBS, Child Workforce; references) and operate as self-employed contractors. We manage matching, QA, and safeguarding.
  • We align to AQA, Edexcel, OCR, and WJEC but do not guarantee specific grades; progress depends on attendance and effort.
  • 4

    Payment & billing

  • Payment in advance via Stripe. Bookings confirmed only once payment is received.
  • Current prices shown at checkout and may change for future purchases; you always see the price before paying.
  • 5

    Scheduling & communications

  • Booking: via Microsoft Bookings. Confirmation includes the Teams link, calendar attachment, and manage/reschedule/cancel link.
  • Reminders: email reminders from Bookings are a courtesy; attendance is your responsibility.
  • Parent-in-Thread: all out-of-lesson communications include the parent/carer. No private tutor↔student DMs.
  • 6

    Lesson conduct & tech

  • Join on time via the Teams link with stable internet, working mic/camera, and a quiet space.
  • Camera on is encouraged for safeguarding and engagement; exceptions can be agreed.
  • The tutor admits only named attendees. Display names should be recognisable.
  • 7–8

    Cancellations & rescheduling

  • By you: free reschedule/cancel with ≥24 hours’ notice via the manage-booking link. Late cancel/no-show (<24h or absent 15+ mins): charged in full. One goodwill waiver per student per term at GradeLift’s discretion.
  • By us: if a tutor is unavailable, we reschedule or provide a suitable substitute. If we cancel and can’t offer a reasonable alternative, we credit or refund the affected lesson(s) in full.
  • 9

    Packages, expiry & transfers

  • Packages are tied to the named student and expire 12 months from purchase.
  • Unused packages may be transferred to a sibling with our written consent.
  • Packages are for one subject only and cannot be split across subjects.

    Refunds

    Please see our Refunds & Cancellations Policy for full details including the 14-day cooling-off right, pro-rata terms, and how to request a refund.

    Late/failed payments

  • We may pause lessons until balances are cleared.
  • Chargebacks raised without first contacting us may incur a reasonable admin fee if the charge is found valid.
  • 12

    Homework, materials & IP

  • Materials we share are for personal use only and may not be copied, shared, or resold.
  • We may use AI-assisted tools to generate practice questions or feedback; tutors remain responsible for accuracy and suitability.
  • 13

    Safeguarding & recordings

  • We follow our Safeguarding & Online Safety Policy.
  • Recording: OFF by default. Parental consent required for any recording. We may record without prior consent for safeguarding/incident reasons only; parent informed promptly. Recordings stored in our Microsoft 365 environment (restricted access: DSL/ops); deleted after 90 days unless required for an investigation.

    Data protection

    ICO-registered (C1770309). We process data under UK GDPR. See our Privacy Policy for lawful bases, retention, and your rights.

    Tutors, matching & substitutions

    Tutors are independent contractors engaged by us. We may change or substitute tutors (e.g. illness, timetable changes) and will keep you informed.

    Complaints & outcomes

  • We do not guarantee specific exam results.
  • Concerns? Email hello@gradelift.co.uk (service) or safeguarding@gradelift.co.uk (safeguarding). We acknowledge within 2 business days and resolve within 10. See our Complaints Policy.
  • 17–21

    Liability, force majeure & governing law

  • Liability: We do not exclude liability for death/personal injury caused by negligence or fraud. Otherwise, total liability is limited to fees paid by you in the preceding 12 months.
  • Force majeure: We are not liable for delays due to events beyond our control. We will reschedule where reasonably possible.
  • Changes: We may update these T&Cs; changes apply to future bookings. We will notify you of material changes.
  • Governing law: England & Wales.
